Premier Li Qiang Champions Innovation and Green Growth in Gansu & Qinghai

During a two-day inspection tour of northwest China’s Gansu and Qinghai provinces, the Chinese premier Li Qiang spotlighted the power of innovation and green development to build a modern industrial system rooted in local strengths.

In Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, Li visited a high-tech company and an industrial park, urging businesses and research institutions to ramp up R&D investment, embrace international frontiers, and refine talent-cultivation mechanisms. His message: invest in cutting-edge ideas today to fuel tomorrow’s industries.

Next, he toured afforestation and ecological protection efforts along the Lanzhou section of the Yellow River. Praising achievements in restoring mountains, water, forests, farmland, grassland and deserts, he called for a holistic, systematic approach to safeguarding these ecosystems—China’s hard-won green legacy.

In Xining, Qinghai Province, Li was briefed on local initiatives in green power and computing capacity. He highlighted Qinghai’s clean-energy advantages and urged deeper integration of green computing with renewable power to drive sustainable growth.

At a local food company, the premier encouraged deeper engagement in green agriculture and animal husbandry to boost quality, efficiency and incomes for farmers and herders. He fully affirmed the provinces’ economic and social progress while calling for further green innovation and the large-scale development of western regions to contribute to China’s overall development.
