China’s foreign ministry spokesperson on Sunday offered warm congratulations to Sushila Karki on her appointment as the prime minister of Nepal’s interim government, a role she assumed following KP Sharma Oli’s resignation.
Karki, Nepal’s former chief justice, officially took office on Friday evening, marking a significant transition in the country’s political landscape.
In Beijing, the spokesperson highlighted that China respects the development path chosen independently by the people of Nepal. “China stands ready to work with Nepal to promote the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and further advance bilateral relations,” the official said.
