Wang Yi Unveils Global Governance Initiative, Calls for China-Europe Unity

In Ljubljana, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon to discuss deepening China-Europe cooperation in a time of historic change. They reached a broad consensus on injecting stability and positive energy into today's complex global landscape.

Wang highlighted that China was among the first to establish diplomatic ties with Slovenia over 30 years ago and has maintained continuity and stability in its foreign policy ever since. He praised the countries' friendship as a model of equal partnership among nations of different sizes and systems.

Marking the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory, Wang reminded participants that the Chinese people's resistance was one of the earliest and longest, with 35 million civilian and military losses. He said remembering history helps us cherish peace and shape a brighter future.

Against a backdrop of intertwined chaos and conflicts, Wang urged: 'China and Europe should be friends rather than rivals, cooperate rather than confront.' He emphasized that making the right choices amid the greatest changes in a century carries a responsibility to history and future generations.

On the United Nations' 80th anniversary, Wang unveiled the Global Governance Initiative, calling on all responsible countries to reform multilateral mechanisms, uphold the UN Charter, and promote human development. 'Our intentions are transparent and sincere. We seek not to replace anyone but to work together,' he said.

Reinforcing China's commitment to peace, Wang noted that war cannot solve problems and sanctions often complicate them. He encouraged conflict resolution through dialogue, positioning China as a responsible major country promoting multilateral solutions.

This call for China-Europe unity and multilateralism resonates across G20 nations, offering young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and changemakers a path to foster cooperation and tackle the defining challenges of our time.
