12th Batch of Chinese Volunteer Martyrs’ Remains Return from ROK

In a solemn ceremony on Friday, the 12th batch of remains belonging to Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs arrived from the Republic of Korea (ROK). These 30 heroes sacrificed their lives during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and their return marks another step in a decade-long humanitarian partnership.

According to China's Ministry of Veterans Affairs, this mission follows an agreement signed in 2014. Over the past 10 years, 12 handovers have brought home more than 1,011 remains and countless personal artifacts, offering closure to families and honoring the memory of those who fell abroad.

Why it matters:

  • Family closure: Each repatriation allows loved ones to pay final respects and preserves personal legacies.
  • Humanitarian bridge: Continuous cooperation demonstrates respect for international laws and shared values.
  • Data-driven impact: Since 2014, 12 batches, over 1,000 returned remains, and hundreds of artifacts have made the journey home.

Officials from both sides emphasize that these ceremonies strengthen historical memory and foster mutual understanding. For the families waiting at home, every return brings a moment of solace and a chance to honor the courage of the fallen.

As global audiences follow this story, the 12th repatriation serves as a reminder of the power of cross-border collaboration in healing the wounds of history and respecting the sacrifices of past generations.
