FBI Releases Photos in Hunt for Suspect in Charlie Kirk Shooting

The FBI on Thursday released grainy images of a man they're hunting in connection with the fatal shooting of right-wing youth leader Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. The agency described the attack as a "targeted event" and appealed to the public for tips.

Kirk was shot while addressing a large outdoor crowd, prompting national shock half a year into President Donald Trump’s second term. Trump hailed Kirk as a "giant of his generation" in a statement that underscored the growing political divisions at public events.

Investigators say the suspect is likely of university age. Although authorities have quality footage they plan to share, the FBI asked citizens to help identify the individual captured wearing a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, jeans and a long-sleeved top emblazoned with an American flag design.

The bureau announced a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to an arrest. Special Agent Robert Bohls confirmed the suspected murder weapon – a high-powered bolt action rifle – was recovered in a nearby wooded area where the shooter fled.

Security experts warn this incident highlights the risks of politically charged gatherings. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the FBI's tip line as the search continues.
