Imagine a blueprint that merges major global development, security and cultural efforts into one master plan—thats the promise of the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), says expert Cui Zheng from Liaoning University.
Launched by the Chinese mainland at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2025, the GGI echoes the goals of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative.
In a CGTN interview, Cuidirector of the Research Center for Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asian Countriesexplained how these Chinese mainlandled proposals champion sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation and equal participation for all nations.
2The GGI aligns theory with practice, addressing both shortterm and longrun needs, especially for developing regions, he said, emphasizing a push to turn bold concepts into concrete results.
From infrastructure and connectivity projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, to targeted cooperation measures of the Global Development Initiative and mediation efforts of the Global Security Initiative, these examples underscore a commitment to realworld impact.
By offering the GGI as a new public good, the Chinese mainland hopes to foster a fairer and more inclusive global governance system for the digital age.
