Honor of Kings Brings Su Embroidery Heritage to Gaming Stage

Honor of Kings, one of the Chinese mainland's most popular mobile games, is creating a new bridge between digital play and traditional culture in Suzhou. The game developer teamed up with Su embroidery inheritor Fu Xianghong to design a stunning costume for its in-game hero, Sun Quan.

For the first time, gamers and culture buffs could see the latest creation up close at the Suzhou Silk Museum. The museum's halls came alive with cosplayers wearing the hand-embroidered Sun Quan outfit, showcasing how intricate patterns and centuries-old techniques merge with modern game design.

"We found that through the form of games, more young people are able to pay attention to our history and culture," says Qian Zhaoyue, director of the museum. This collaboration turned a virtual character into a living exhibit, sparking curiosity among visitors and players alike.

The project reflects a growing trend in the Chinese mainland's gaming industry: using creativity and technology to revive intangible cultural heritage. By transforming elements of Su embroidery into immersive experiences, Honor of Kings is proving that games can be more than entertainment – they can be a dynamic stage for preserving and celebrating tradition.
