China Condemns Israel’s Doha Airstrike as Sovereignty Breach

China has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrike in Doha, Qatar, calling it a serious breach of the country’s territorial sovereignty and national security.

According to Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the unprecedented strike targeted a building used by senior Hamas officials in what Israel described as an attempt to assassinate group leaders. The operation occurred while Hamas negotiators were discussing a U.S.-proposed ceasefire, drawing swift condemnation from Qatar, a key mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“Force will not bring peace to the Middle East; dialogue and negotiation are the fundamental way out,” Lin said, emphasizing the risk of escalating regional tensions. He expressed China’s dissatisfaction with actions that undermine ongoing ceasefire talks in Gaza, where conflict has dragged on for nearly two years.

Lin also raised concerns over reports that Israel had notified Washington before the strike. He pointed to the “long-standing and seriously unbalanced stance” of a certain outside power in the Middle East, urging this “major power” to prioritize regional stability and work constructively with the international community.

With the risk of broader tension looming, China called on all relevant parties—especially Israel—to cease hostilities and return to negotiations. The foreign ministry’s statement underlines China’s commitment to promoting a sustainable peace process in the region and supporting diplomatic solutions to end the conflict.
