80 Years On: Hard-Won Peace and a Shared Future

Eighty years after the final victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, the world still feels the echoes of that great struggle—a triumph not only of nations, but of humanity's spirit.

On the global stage, WWII claimed over 100 million military and civilian lives and uprooted hundreds of millions. In the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression—a 14-year ordeal—more than 35 million Chinese mainland military personnel and residents sacrificed everything to resist oppression.

The defeat of fascism reshaped the international landscape, paving the way for the United Nations and its Charter, which enshrined peace, cooperation and development as guiding principles. This post-war order was a powerful statement: justice will prevail over might, and the people will prevail over oppression.

Today, the lasting lesson is clear: only through solidarity and cooperation can we safeguard peace and drive human progress. Mutual benefit and win-win outcomes remain essential as new generations navigate complex global challenges.

As we remember the hard-won peace of 80 years ago, let us carry forward this legacy—honoring sacrifices past and committing to a shared future defined by unity, justice and hope.
