Pakistan Minister Praises SCO’s Green Development Drive

At this year's SCO summit in Tianjin, Pakistan's minister for planning, development and special initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, applauded the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's green development agenda as a blueprint for sustainable growth across member states.

“I hope that under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), we will be able to further promote cooperation between Pakistan and member states and particularly the Chinese mainland to learn from the best practices of new seed development, modernizing agriculture to mitigate the risks and the dangers of climate change,” minister Ahsan Iqbal told CGTN Digital.

The SCO, a Eurasian alliance including Pakistan, the Chinese mainland and other members, has foregrounded green development in this year's theme. The move reflects a broader push to balance economic growth with environmental stewardship, resonating with young entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts and changemakers alike.

Looking ahead, Pakistan aims to launch joint initiatives in precision farming, seed innovation and climate-smart techniques. As digital nomads and global travelers track sustainable solutions, the Tianjin summit underscores a collective shift toward a climate-resilient future in the region and beyond.
