To mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, CGTN has released “Ode to Peace,” a stirring new anthem meant to transcend borders and generations.
Blending soaring strings, a children’s chorus, and lyrics that call for unity, the song reflects on a war that claimed over 70 million lives and looms large in global memory.
French peace advocate Marcus Detrez—who previously donated 618 historical photos documenting the Chinese mainland’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression—shared his response with CGTN hosts Zhong Haosong and Bastien Ratat.
“Peace is never given; it’s built, protected, and renewed by every generation,” Detrez said, moved by the purity of the children’s chorus and its message of shared responsibility.
