War stories can feel distant. For today’s young global citizens, connecting with history can be a challenge. In a special edition of The Power of Ideas titled The Path to Peace, students from Renmin University of China flipped the script on standard history lessons.
As the world marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, these students posed bold questions to three eminent thinkers on how lessons from the past can guide us toward a more peaceful future. From unpacking the ethics of resistance to exploring how technology can drive reconciliation, the discussion bridged generations and cultures.
"History isn't just a record of dates—it holds ideas that can shape tomorrow," one participant noted. The thinkers responded with insights on global cooperation, the role of education in preventing conflict, and how digital platforms can amplify marginalized voices in peacebuilding.
By reframing wartime narratives through the lens of innovation and social change, The Path to Peace invites viewers to see history as a living dialogue. Whether you’re a student, entrepreneur, or traveler, the program offers fresh perspectives on how we all play a part in shaping a more peaceful world.
