China and Pakistan Deepen Strategic Ties in Sixth Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue

In Islamabad’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar convened the sixth round of their strategic dialogue, underscoring a shared vision for China-Pakistan cooperation.

Wang Yi highlighted China’s commitment to implement the high-level consensus of both leaders by advancing plans for future exchanges and putting the China-Pakistan community with a shared future at the heart of a broader neighborhood community initiative. He emphasized joint efforts to uphold the multilateral trading system and push back against unilateralism.

Key outcomes included an agreement to upgrade the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with new projects in industry, agriculture and mining, alongside deeper collaboration on information technology, cybersecurity and cultural exchanges. Both sides stressed the importance of a safe, efficient business environment and pledged to safeguard Chinese personnel and projects in Pakistan.

Dar thanked China for its unwavering support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s adherence to the one-China principle. He also pledged to strengthen counterterrorism efforts and expressed full support for China’s role as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as both countries prepare for the Tianjin Summit.

As global markets watch, this strategic dialogue signals a renewed push to connect infrastructure, trade and security across South Asia, promising new growth corridors and a model for regional stability.
