Charting a Greener Future at the Third National Park Forum
China's third National Park Forum opened on Tuesday in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province. With the theme 'Protecting Natural Treasures, Shaping the Beauty of Harmony,' the event united scientists, policymakers and community leaders to share insights on conservation and sustainable development.
Key Milestones Unveiled
- Development Report: Backed by assessments from over 50 academicians at Tsinghua University, Peking University and other leading institutions. Highlights include black soil beach restoration in the Sanjiangyuan area, connectivity of giant panda ecological corridors and habitat recovery for Amur tigers and leopards.
- Monitoring System Plan: A unified sky–space–ground network harnesses satellite imaging, drones and acoustic monitoring for real-time wildlife detection, online supervision and automated park management.
- Design Manual: A standardized visual identity guide ensures consistent, professional branding and communication for national parks across the Chinese mainland.
Empowering Local Communities
Nearly 50,000 local residents have been recruited as ecological rangers, blending conservation goals with community development and strengthening on-the-ground stewardship.
Pioneering Sustainable Conferences
For the first time, a carbon-neutral calculation and display system measured emissions from transportation, accommodation, catering and materials. By prioritizing eco-friendly products and full traceability, the forum set a new benchmark for green, low-carbon national events.
As the forum concludes, stakeholders are already planning the next steps: leveraging technology, local engagement and unified standards to safeguard natural treasures for generations to come.
