The Saudi Super Cup semifinals kick off in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as Al Nassr take on Al Ittihad. For the first time, the tournament lands in East Asia after stops in England and the United Arab Emirates.
At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo is on a mission to secure his first official title with Al Nassr since joining in 2022. The Portuguese icon has delivered 93 goals and 19 assists in 105 appearances, yet his only silverware remains the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, considered unofficial.
Last season, Al Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro League, trailing champions Al Ittihad by 13 points. The club also parted ways with coaches Luis Castro and Stefano Pioli before appointing Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus in July.
“Cristiano Ronaldo being on board was a big incentive,” Jesus explains. “We are mobilizing everything for this season and ready to face our rivals with a strong performance.”
In the other semifinal on Wednesday, Al Ahli will clash with Al Qadsiah. As the tournament unfolds, all eyes will be on Ronaldo and Al Nassr’s bid to finally lift an official trophy.
