Echoes of Peace: CMG and UN Unite for WWII 80th Anniversary

On August 13, the UN Headquarters in New York buzzed with emotion and remembrance as China Media Group (CMG) teamed up with the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations to co-host "Echoes of Peace."

The event marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, bringing together over 100 participants, including diplomats from more than 30 countries, UN officials, and descendants of Flying Tigers veterans. CMG President Shen Haixiong set the tone with a heartfelt video address on the power of cultural exchange to heal and unite.

Permanent Representative Fu Cong, UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Melissa Fleming, and Jeffrey Greene, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, shared reflections on collaboration, the legacy of wartime alliances, and the role of media in peacebuilding. Their insights underscored how shared history can forge stronger global ties.

Through music, storytelling, and dialogue, "Echoes of Peace" brought fresh perspectives on a pivotal moment in history, reminding us that remembrance fuels progress. For young global citizens, business innovators, and changemakers alike, the event highlighted cultural diplomacy as a bridge across borders—and a blueprint for building a more peaceful future.
