On Tuesday, China’s Ministry of Commerce delivered a preliminary ruling in its anti-dumping investigation of Canadian rapeseed imports, a probe that kicked off on September 9, 2024.
After reviewing evidence, the ministry found that rapeseed shipped from Canada was sold below fair-market value in the Chinese mainland, causing material harm to local growers and establishing a direct causal link to the injury. To address this, provisional anti-dumping measures will be applied immediately.
Effective Thursday, importers of Canadian rapeseed must deposit 75.8 percent of the shipment value with Chinese customs authorities. These deposits aim to level the playing field as the investigation moves toward a final determination.
