As the United Nations celebrates its 80th anniversary, a new campaign titled "One Home: Shared Future" is amplifying the messages of young voices worldwide. Launched by CGTN in collaboration with global content creators, the initiative gives a platform to youth-led visions for humanity’s path forward.
Among the contributors is Ogbuagu Kelechi Uchamma, a Nigerian pursuing a master's in architecture at Chongqing University. She says her time living and studying in the Chinese mainland has broadened her understanding of our interconnected world—and of the climate crisis we all share.
"This planet is our only home," Kelechi asserts. "It deserves our protection, our creativity and our care." She points to recent disasters—from Storm Daniel in Libya, which claimed over 11,000 lives, to raging wildfires in Türkiye and Greece—as urgent reminders that extreme weather events are on the rise and respect no borders.
With "One Home: Shared Future," Kelechi and other young leaders are calling for collective climate action—urging governments, businesses and individuals to unite behind innovative solutions. For them, safeguarding the environment means more than reducing emissions; it means reimagining cities, communities and lifestyles with sustainability at the core.
As the UN marks eight decades of global cooperation, the message from youth innovators is clear: protecting our shared home demands creativity, collaboration and commitment from every corner of the globe.
