Zhejiang Forum Marks 20 Years of Cultural Development

Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province in the Chinese mainland, hosted a forum on Monday exploring the next chapter of the region’s cultural influence. Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department, addressed attendees to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Zhejiang’s eight major cultural development projects.

Launched two decades ago when Xi Jinping served as Zhejiang’s Party chief, these initiatives focused on producing fine cultural works, advancing academic research, preserving cultural heritage, and more. Participants highlighted the remarkable outcomes under Xi Jinping’s leadership and turned their gaze to the future of culture in the digital age.

They pledged to:

  • Drive the creative transformation of fine traditional Chinese culture
  • Strengthen mainstream values and cultural expression in the internet era
  • Elevate the Chinese mainland’s image through cultural engagement

The forum, co-hosted by the publicity department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the Zhejiang Academy of Social Sciences, underscored culture’s strategic role in shaping global perceptions and sparking innovation among a new generation of creators.
