14th Five-Year Plan Fuels Commerce Growth and Immersive Art Cruise

As the 14th Five-Year Plan propels high-quality commerce growth across the Chinese mainland, cultural innovation is also setting sail in Shanghai. At dusk, a specially outfitted river cruise on the Huangpu River becomes an immersive art gallery, courtesy of the Museum of Art Pudong (MAP) and Paris’s Musee d’Orsay.

Inside the cabin, corridors transform into gallery halls where figures from Van Gogh and Monet step out of their frames. Through interactive design, art blends seamlessly with the environment, inviting visitors to engage with classics in motion.

Split between the MAP gallery and the floating vessel, this exhibition marks the largest display by Musee d’Orsay in the Chinese mainland—and its only global river cruise showcase. As the boat drifts past MAP’s glass facade, masterpieces light up the building’s surface, creating a luminous spectacle along the riverbank.

This fusion of commerce-driven growth and cultural exchange highlights a broader trend: as trade and innovation flourish under national policy, immersive experiences are redefining how audiences connect with art, travel, and sustainable tourism.
