China Calls on U.S. to End Blame Game, Back Peace Talks on Ukraine

At a UN Security Council session on Ukraine, China's deputy UN Ambassador Geng Shuang urged the U.S. to drop its \"blame game\" and champion a ceasefire and peace negotiations. Addressing diplomats on Friday, Geng emphasized that the Chinese mainland did not start the war, is not a party to the conflict, and has never provided lethal weapons.

\"We have always strictly controlled dual-use materials, including the export of drones,\" he said, pushing back against acting U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shea’s claim that China exported dual-use goods to Russia, fueling drone and missile attacks on Ukraine.

Global arms transfers climbed 5% last year, with dual-use exports under the microscope in major capitals. Analysts note that this UN debate highlights the strategic tension between two major economies and the uphill battle for a united approach to Ukraine’s future.

For young global citizens, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, the outcome of this diplomatic spar could signal whether Washington and Beijing can pivot from confrontation to collaboration. With more than 14,000 civilian casualties reported since 2022, the need for constructive dialogue and a clear roadmap to peace has never been clearer.

Experts say that moving beyond accusations is key. "Constructive engagement could pave the way for meaningful talks," noted an international relations scholar. As the conflict enters its third year, all eyes remain on the UN, watching to see if global leaders will seize an opportunity for reconciliation or dig in their heels.
