US Stocks Close Mixed as Earnings Season Heats Up

US markets ended mixed on Tuesday as investors balanced a fresh wave of corporate results with trade news that could reshape global flows.

Here’s a quick snapshot:

  • Dow Jones Industrial Average: +0.4% to 44,502.44
  • S&P 500: +0.06% to 6,309.62 (record close)
  • Nasdaq Composite: -0.39% to 20,892.69

Sector highlights showed nine of the 11 S&P 500 groups in the green. Health care (+1.9%) and real estate (+1.78%) outperformed, while technology (-1.08%) and communication services (-0.31%) lagged.

Investor optimism got a boost after US President Donald Trump announced a new trade agreement with the Philippines, hinting at broader progress on international trade deals.

On the earnings front, 88 S&P 500 companies have reported Q2 results so far, with 82% beating analysts’ estimates, according to FactSet. Attention now shifts to Alphabet and Tesla, the first of the so-called “Magnificent Seven” mega-caps scheduled to report on Wednesday.

With earnings season in full swing, global investors will be watching closely for signals on corporate health, consumer spending and the outlook for innovation-driven sectors.
