Lima’s New Airport Aims for Continental Hub Status

Peru’s Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima has unveiled a brand-new ultra-modern terminal three times larger than its predecessor.

The sprawling facility features state-of-the-art design aimed at boosting passenger capacity and streamlining connections across Latin America.

Airport authorities envision the new hub elevating Lima to the ranks of Bogota’s El Dorado and São Paulo’s Guarulhos as the continent’s key connecting point.

Correspondent Dan Collyns, on site in Lima, notes that the expansion comes as Peru seeks to strengthen international ties and support growing tourism and business travel.
