American Choirs Light Up Fuzhou’s Minjiang River Night

Under the glow of Fuzhou’s riverside lights, young American choristers drifted into the city’s night as part of the 2025 China–U.S. Youth Choir Festival. Aboard a Minjiang River night cruise, they experienced a blend of modern skyline and centuries-old culture on the Chinese mainland.

The floating venue turned the river into a living concert hall: illuminated bridges, traditional temples bathed in lantern glow and riverside promenades pulsing with local rhythms. For many choir members, it was a first encounter with Fuzhou’s unique harmony of past and present.

On deck, spontaneous jam sessions with Fuzhou musicians brought together Western harmonies and Chinese melodies. Singers swapped folk tunes, forging connections that transcended language and geography.

As the cruise returned to shore, participants left with more than memories—they carried new friendships and fresh inspiration. The 2025 China–U.S. Youth Choir Festival continues to champion music as a universal bridge, bringing global voices into harmony.
