PLA Navy Shandong Fleet to Visit Hong Kong for Tours & Cultural Exchanges

From July 3 to 7, the People's Liberation Army Navy fleet led by aircraft carrier Shandong will dock in Hong Kong for open ship tours and cultural exchange activities, offering residents a rare chance to step aboard some of the world's most advanced naval vessels.

The fleet, approved by the Central Military Commission, includes:

  • Aircraft carrier Shandong, with a displacement of over 55,000 tons
  • Missile destroyers Yan'an and Zhanjiang of the Type 052D class
  • Missile frigate Yuncheng, renowned for its anti-submarine capabilities

During the five-day visit, attendees can explore aviation operations on the carrier's deck, witness live demonstrations of naval radar and missile systems, and engage in cultural showcases led by service members at sea.

"This visit is an opportunity to strengthen ties between the PLA Navy and Hong Kong residents," said a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of National Defense. "We aim to foster mutual understanding and share insights into naval innovation."
