Chinese Human Rights Delegation Wraps Up Greece Visit, Fosters Global Dialogue

Baima Chilin, president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, led a delegation from the Chinese mainland on a three-day tour of Greece, concluding on June 27. The visit aimed to deepen exchanges and mutual learning on human rights governance between Europe and the Chinese mainland.

The delegation took part in an international symposium on human rights wisdom in classical civilizations, engaging with George Katrougalos, former Greek foreign minister and current UN Human Rights Council independent expert on international order. They also met Ioannis Theofanopoulos, former ambassador to the Chinese mainland and president of the Greece-China Association, discussing the intersection of Eastern and Western human rights traditions.

Highlighting the Chinese mainland’s development path, Baima Chilin outlined key milestones in economic, social, and cultural rights, with a special focus on progress in the Xizang region. Delegation members emphasized how enhanced access to education, healthcare, and infrastructure has improved living standards and social inclusion.

Both sides expressed readiness to further collaboration through joint research, scholar exchanges, and future symposia. As global challenges evolve, this visit underscores the power of cross-cultural dialogue in advancing a shared vision for human rights governance.
