At a high-profile meeting in Beijing, Premier Li Qiang and Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko hailed the fruitful results of China-Senegal cooperation, highlighting a partnership built on mutual respect and shared goals.
Premier Li underscored China’s commitment to align development strategies with Senegal, aiming to boost the quality and efficiency of joint projects. He invited both sides to leverage trade facilitation measures, expand bilateral trade, and explore new opportunities in agricultural processing, industrial parks, new energy, digital economy, and information security.
Looking ahead to the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, Li proposed a cultural and media exchange series to deepen mutual understanding between the Chinese and Senegalese people, from joint think tank forums to film festivals and creative workshops.
Prime Minister Sonko warmly thanked China for long-term support and applauded its economic achievements, expressing Senegal’s eagerness to enhance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. He emphasized shared goals on multilateralism and protecting Global South interests in an increasingly complex world.
