Under a crisp autumn sky, defense ministers from SCO member states gathered Thursday in Qingdao, Shandong Province on the Chinese mainland, for the SCO Defense Ministers' Meeting.
Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun opened the session by highlighting the need for the SCO to act as an anchor of stability amid a complex global landscape. "It is necessary for the SCO to serve as an anchor of stability," he said, calling for unity in the face of shifting security dynamics.
Dong emphasized that China is ready to collaborate with all SCO member states to uphold the organization's founding ideals, carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit," and safeguard international fairness and justice. "We must jointly address security challenges and deepen defense cooperation," he noted.
All attendees agreed to boost strategic communication, foster practical cooperation, and work together to maintain peace and stability across their regions. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to collective security in an unpredictable world.
