Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met in Beijing on Monday, reaffirming a shared vision for stronger ties across trade, technology and sustainability. This high-level dialogue marks a milestone for a partnership now 35 years strong.

Under the strategic guidance of their leaders, the two neighbors have deepened mutual trust through open dialogue and equal partnership. Li Qiang highlighted that China is committed to maintaining close exchanges and strategic communication, aiming to build on a foundation of respect, cooperation and shared benefits.

Key to their agenda is the joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. Both sides plan to scale up two-way trade and investment, explore third-party collaboration, and greenlight flagship projects spanning the digital economy, green economy, artificial intelligence, smart cities and marine energy.

The meeting also spotlighted people-to-people ties. From education and culture to tourism and media, Li Qiang and Lawrence Wong agreed to boost exchanges that enrich everyday lives and promote open regionalism. They emphasized multilateralism and the need to keep global supply chains stable and efficient.

Looking wider, China and Singapore pledged to work with ASEAN members on the upgraded Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area pact, roll out the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and accelerate regional economic integration.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed full confidence in the Chinese economy and signaled plans to deepen flagship efforts such as the Suzhou Industrial Park. He also called for tapping emerging fields from the digital economy and green technology to artificial intelligence and biomedicine, as well as expanding third-party and cultural collaborations.
