Beijing Rejects G7’s Unwarranted Claims on Taiwan, Seas and Economy

At a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun strongly opposed the G7's repeated manipulation of topics related to the Chinese mainland. He criticized what he called \"unwarranted accusations\" on issues ranging from Taiwan to the South China Sea and the East China Sea, and the bloc's \"malicious slander\" over so-called market distortions and harmful overcapacity.

Guo emphasized that the greatest threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait stems from separatist pushes for Taiwan independence and foreign interference. \"If the G7 truly cares about regional peace, it should uphold the one-China principle, oppose Taiwan independence, and support China's peaceful reunification,\" he said.

On maritime disputes, Guo noted that the overall situation in the East China Sea and the South China Sea remains stable thanks to the collective efforts of regional countries. He urged the G7 to respect regional consensus, avoid using sea issues to drive wedges, and stop fueling tensions.

Turning to economic concerns, Guo refuted claims of Chinese \"overcapacity\" and \"market distortion\" as protectionist rhetoric aimed at suppressing legitimate development. He called on the G7 to abandon a Cold War mentality and ideological bias, to stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and to focus on actions that truly benefit the international community.

As tensions simmer, the international community will watch closely whether the G7 heeds Beijing's call for cooperation over confrontation.
