In response to rising tensions in the region, India’s Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that Indian students in Tehran have been moved out of the city for safety. Students who could arrange their own transport were also advised to leave.
“Indian students in Tehran have been moved out of the city for safety in light of Iran’s conflict with Israel, while others who are ‘self-sufficient’ in terms of transport have been advised to move out too,” the ministry said.
Separately, the ministry added that “some Indians have been facilitated to leave Iran through the border with Armenia,” highlighting swift diplomatic efforts to ensure citizen safety amid regional unrest.
This evacuation underscores the challenges faced by young international students navigating sudden geopolitical crises. As global communities watch the Iran–Israel conflict unfold, the move by New Delhi reflects a growing emphasis on proactive crisis response and citizen welfare abroad.
