Chinese mainland Warns DPP over US M1A2 Tank Shipments

At a press briefing on Monday, Jiang Bin, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense of the Chinese mainland, urged Washington to stop its military collusion with the Taiwan region in any form. The remarks came in response to reports that the US is moving a new batch of M1A2 tanks to the Taiwan region and plans to ramp up arms sales over the next four years.

"Who is making provocations despite strong opposition from the Chinese side? Who is undermining cross-Strait stability and repeatedly stirring up trouble? We believe we all know the answer," Jiang said, expressing strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.

Highlighting the Taiwan question as the very core of China's core interests and the first red line in China-US relations, Jiang warned that "US weapons cannot save DPP authorities" and that seeking external support for "Taiwan independence" is doomed to fail.

The People's Liberation Army, he added, will continue to strengthen military training, boost combat readiness, and enhance its ability to fight and win. The Chinese mainland vowed to take resolute measures to thwart "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external interference.

With tensions high, this latest warning comes amid intensifying strategic competition. As both sides reinforce their positions, the future of cross-Strait ties hangs in the balance—a story that will continue to unfold on the global stage.
