China’s C919 Jet Debuts Feeder-Airport Service

In a landmark move for the Chinese mainland’s aviation sector, the homegrown C919 jet has completed its first commercial flight to a feeder airport, marking a significant milestone in expanding a nationwide network that links major hubs with smaller cities.

On its maiden feeder-leg journey, China Southern Airlines flight CZ3383 departed from Guangzhou, carrying 139 passengers, and landed smoothly at Jiangying Airport in Nanyang in Henan Province on the Chinese mainland.

Beyond the numbers, this route has the potential to unlock new travel options for business and leisure travelers, digital nomads, and local communities in central regions, reducing travel times and boosting economic ties between major cities and emerging destinations.

Industry observers see this flight as a blueprint for future feeder routes operated by domestically built jets, enhancing connectivity and helping to diversify China’s aviation network beyond major airports.

As more C919s enter service, travelers can look forward to a growing web of direct connections that bring remote corners of the country within easy reach of global explorers and local residents alike.
