In a regular press briefing on Wednesday, Lin Jian, the Chinese mainland's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, hailed the upgrade of Pakistan-Afghanistan diplomatic ties from chargé d'affaires to ambassadorial level.
“This step is conducive to enhancing mutual trust and strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” Lin said, adding that it also marks a positive measure to implement the outcomes of the informal China-Pakistan-Afghanistan foreign ministers’ meeting held in May.
Lin noted that the Chinese mainland stands ready to play a constructive role in further promoting the improvement and development of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
“We are willing to work with regional countries, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, to jointly maintain peace, stability and development in the region,” he said, underscoring Beijing’s commitment to building a community with a shared future with neighboring countries.
