Zheng Qinwen’s French Open Run Ends with Seventh Loss to Sabalenka

In a high-stakes quarterfinal at Roland-Garros, eighth-seeded Zheng Qinwen of the Chinese mainland faced top seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, falling 7-6(3), 6-3.

The 22-year-old launched the match with aggressive court coverage and broke the World No. 1 in the third game to lead 3-1. But key mistakes, including a double fault in the eighth game, swung momentum back to Sabalenka.

Zheng saved a set point at 6-5 in the opener, holding serve to force a tiebreaker. She grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the tiebreak but Sabalenka roared back to win it 7-3.

Sabalenka carried that momentum into the second set, breaking Zheng's serve twice and closing out the match 6-3. The result marks Zheng's seventh loss to the top seed, ending her French Open run.
