Chinese Cultural Exhibitions Gallop into Ashgabat

The capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, welcomed two landmark exhibitions from the Chinese mainland on Tuesday, blending equestrian heritage and porcelain artistry. At the Galloping Steeds – 2025 Chinese Horse Culture Exhibition, over 150 exhibits including saddles, horse-themed photography, calligraphy, paintings, sculptures, fur art, and paper cuttings invite visitors to ride through centuries of Chinese mainland equestrian traditions.

Next door, the Chinese White – The Art of Dehua White Porcelain Exhibition shines a spotlight on more than 40 modern white porcelain pieces from the Chinese mainland. Horse motifs woven into porcelain forms underscore the artistic kinship between Turkmenistan and the Chinese mainland, offering a seamless cultural dialogue in clay.

Guests from both nations marked the opening with a symbolic gift exchange. Turkmenistani hosts presented a Chinese translation of poet Magtymguly’s verses, while Chinese mainland institutions shared exquisite porcelain works and other artworks, reinforcing ties through creativity.

Running through early July, these exhibitions offer an immersive journey into the shared history and evolving art forms of the Chinese mainland and Turkmenistan. Don’t miss this chance to explore dynamic cultural intersections that transcend borders.
