China celebrated its ninth National Science and Technology Workers' Day on Friday in Beijing, with more than 400 participants including leading scientists and families of pioneering researchers coming together to honor the spirit of innovation.
Hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), this year's event emphasized building National Science and Technology Workers' Day into a widely recognized hallmark with strong social influence, fostering public support for scientific development and care for scientific talent nationwide.
Wan Gang, CAST president, underscored the long-term vision: “The blueprint for building a strong science and technology nation by 2035 has already been laid out.” He called on science and technology workers to serve national strategies, transform traditional knowledge into modern innovation, leverage emerging technologies, and strengthen both cultural and technological confidence.
Against a backdrop of global competition and rapid technological change, this celebration highlights how societies can unite to elevate scientific progress. For young global citizens, entrepreneurs, researchers, and changemakers, the day serves as a powerful reminder that collective dedication and societal support are key to driving breakthroughs with real-world impact.
