China’s Wang Yi Urges Global Climate Unity

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi issued a rallying cry for humanity to unite against the growing threat of global climate change. Speaking Wednesday at a press conference in Xiamen City, he emphasized that the world must move beyond divisions and work together to secure a sustainable future.

As a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and co-host of the third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Wang highlighted the meeting’s focus on strengthening cooperation between China and Pacific island partners to address environmental challenges.

Expressing deep regret over a certain major country’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change, he warned that such moves risk undermining collective progress.

Stressing that China’s commitment to global climate governance remains unwavering, Wang reaffirmed Beijing’s pledge to support international efforts and participate fully in global climate action.

His remarks underscored the need for bold, collaborative action—a message that echoes from Xiamen to every region grappling with the impacts of a warming planet.
