As Africa Day celebrations unfolded, CGTN sat down with African ambassadors to the Chinese mainland to discuss a shared vision for Africa’s future. Among them was Rahmat Allah Mohamed Osman, permanent representative of the African Union to the Chinese mainland, who highlighted how robust Africa–Chinese mainland ties can accelerate the continent’s modernization.
“Strong infrastructure partnerships lay the foundation for economic growth,” Osman said, underscoring flagship projects that connect ports, railways, and highways. Other diplomats echoed this view, pointing to digital innovation, green energy, and skills exchange as key drivers of progress.
Ambassadors noted that collaboration in technology and education is empowering young entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts. Joint research programs and startup incubators foster cross-continental innovation, while clean energy initiatives address sustainability goals and protect local ecosystems.
Beyond economics, cultural and people-to-people exchanges were celebrated as vital for mutual understanding. Youth delegations, art exhibitions, and student scholarships showcase Africa’s rich heritage to partners in the Chinese mainland, and vice versa.
The consensus was clear: by deepening ties, leveraging shared strengths, and focusing on sustainable, inclusive growth, Africa and the Chinese mainland can chart a path toward modernization that benefits millions across the continent.
