15 Injured in Russia’s Massive Missile-Drone Assault on Kyiv

Early Saturday, a massive barrage of ballistic missiles and drones targeted Kyiv in what officials describe as one of the largest air assaults on the capital since the conflict began. The Kyiv city military administration reported at least 15 people injured and damage across six of the city's 10 districts.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian forces deployed 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles alongside 250 attack drones, making Kyiv the primary target. Ukraine's air defenses intercepted 6 missiles and 245 drones, underscoring the scale of the defense effort.

Ground reports indicate that a shopping mall, multiple apartment buildings and an educational facility suffered varying degrees of damage. Rescue teams and local volunteers have been coordinating cleanup and support efforts to help affected residents.

The overnight strike follows Friday's attack on port infrastructure in the southern city of Odesa, where two ballistic missiles killed three people and injured six more, according to Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper.

In response to the latest assault, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to social media platform X, urging the United States, Europe and other global partners to step up sanctions against Moscow. "Only additional sanctions targeting key sectors of the Russian economy will force Moscow to cease fire," he wrote.

As the conflict continues to shape geopolitics and security debates worldwide, young global citizens and thought leaders are watching closely for next moves—both on the front lines and across diplomatic tables.
