UN Chief Demands Swift Aid Delivery to Starving Gazans

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued an urgent appeal on May 23 for safe delivery of humanitarian relief to starving Gazans, warning that the crisis has entered an especially dire and devastating stage.

"In recent days, almost 400 trucks were cleared for entry into Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing. But supplies from only 115 trucks have been collected. And nothing has reached the besieged north," he said from United Nations Headquarters in New York. "We are working around the clock to get whatever aid we can to people in need."

The figures underscore a growing gap between clearance and actual distribution — a gap that continues to leave entire communities cut off from vital support. While supplies are cleared, they remain stuck at entry points, depriving Gazans in the north of critical aid.

He urged safe delivery of aid, stressing that every moment lost puts lives at greater risk.

As the world watches, coordinated action and protective measures will be essential to turn clearance into real relief for starving Gazans.
