Trump Threatens 25% Apple Tariff if iPhones Aren’t U.S.-Made

In a bold move on Truth Social this week, U.S. President Donald Trump set his sights on one of America's biggest tech giants: Apple. Trump warned that if the iPhones it sells in the United States aren't fully manufactured domestically, the company could face a 25% import tariff.

Trump said he had long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that he expects their iPhones sold in the United States to be manufactured and built in the United States, "not India, or anyplace else." This ultimatum underscores a push to bring production back home – and raises questions about the future of global smartphone supply chains.

Currently, Apple assembles iPhones in India and elsewhere outside the United States, meaning a 25% tariff on imported models could drive higher costs for consumers and force a rethink of production plans.

For now, Apple has not publicly responded to the threat. But with millions of iPhones sold annually in the U.S., any shift in manufacturing or pricing could ripple across markets – and into the hands of users around the world.

Stay tuned to see how Apple navigates this ultimatum and what it might mean for the next generation of iPhones in your pocket.
