Iran to Hold 4th Round of Indirect US Talks in Oman This Sunday

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has confirmed that the fourth round of indirect talks with the United States will take place in Oman on Sunday. The announcement came during an interview with Shahrara newspaper in Mashhad.

Acting as mediator, Oman proposed Sunday as the meeting date after coordinating with both sides. “Our Omani friends asked our opinion about setting the next meeting date on Sunday, and we announced our consent,” Araghchi said. “Apparently, they have spoken to the other side, and up to this moment, the negotiations are scheduled to be held on Sunday.”

These sessions focus on Tehran’s nuclear program and pathways to lift U.S. sanctions. To date, Iran and the U.S. have met indirectly in three rounds: the first and third in Muscat on April 12 and April 26, and the second in Rome on April 19. A planned meeting in Rome on May 3 was postponed due to “logistical reasons,” according to Oman.

Araghchi stressed Iran’s firm approach. “Although our positions in the negotiations are principled and fixed, the U.S. side was sending contradictory messages. We will insist upon our clear positions,” he noted.

Before the talks in Oman, Araghchi will make regional stops in Saudi Arabia and Qatar for consultations on the indirect U.S. discussions. He then heads to Doha to participate in the Iran–Arab World Dialogue summit, aiming to strengthen ties and regional cooperation.

As the global community watches closely, this next round in Oman could mark a pivotal moment in Middle East diplomacy and set the stage for future progress on Iran’s nuclear agenda.
