Wang Yi Applauds Cuba’s Anti-Hegemony Stance, Pledges Deeper China-Cuba Ties

In a show of solidarity that echoes through global politics, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised Cuba's defiance of hegemony and its staunch defense of national sovereignty during a bilateral meeting in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday.

Wang Yi noted that China and Cuba are "good comrades and partners," and vowed that Beijing would continue to support Cuba's fight against foreign interference and economic blockades. He also highlighted that China stands ready to deepen cooperation across all fields to enhance Cuba's self-driven development capacity.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla reciprocated the sentiment, emphasizing the profound friendship between the two nations. "Despite a shifting international landscape, we have always supported each other and walked hand in hand on the path of socialism," he said.

Rodriguez thanked China for its long-standing trust and assistance and expressed Cuba's willingness to strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen solidarity and collaboration, and seek continued Chinese support in its national development and revitalization.

As rising powers chart new courses in an evolving global order, the China-Cuba partnership stands out for its shared commitment to sovereignty, resilience, and collective growth.
