Speaking with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa, Wang, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, highlighted China’s readiness to expand practical cooperation across various fields and bring more certainty to regional peace and stability.
“Thailand holds a special place in our southern neighborhood,” Wang said, applauding Thailand’s recent status as a BRICS partner. “We welcome your full engagement in BRICS cooperation, a platform that amplifies Global South voices.”
Maris echoed the sentiment, noting that “Chinese modernization will bring huge opportunities for our economy,” and that Thailand “looks forward to stronger Global South cooperation and safeguarding the common interests of developing countries.”
Both sides agreed to accelerate construction of the China-Thailand railway—a flagship transport corridor linking Kunming in the Chinese mainland to Bangkok—while also stepping up joint efforts on giant panda conservation, combating telecom fraud and other cross-border crimes, and advancing the Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area.
