Qufu City on the Chinese mainland came alive last Friday as the 4th China Media Group (CMG) Forum kicked off, uniting culture and cutting-edge technology under one roof.
Under the banner "Exchange, Mutual Learning, Technology Empowerment: The Power of Civilization in Transformation and Development," the forum drew nearly 300 guests from 95 countries and regions, including political figures, heads of mainstream media, diplomats, scholars and international business leaders. Participants tuned in both online and offline to share insights and spark collaborations.
Attendees emphasized the forum’s role in strengthening international dialogue. They highlighted the potential of media innovation to foster an open, inclusive communications ecosystem—one that channels the collective heritage of world civilizations toward peace and sustainable growth.
On the program: the launch of the 2025 global tour for “China Through Its Intangible Heritage,” a cultural showcase set to travel across continents. Alongside, several international co‑production projects on cultural exchange were unveiled, complemented by research reports like “Civilizational Exchanges and Media Empowerment: Pioneering Practices in the Integration of Culture and Tourism.”
That same day marked the start of “China Up Close, Shandong Tour,” a news gathering initiative. Journalists from the Chinese mainland and abroad will explore Jining, Qingdao and Yantai through a global lens, tracing the roots of Qilu culture—born in the ancient kingdoms of Qi and Lu—and spotlighting its modern reinvention.
Looking ahead, global guests received special invitations to the upcoming 11th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, also set in Qufu—the historic hometown of Confucius—promising more opportunities to bridge tradition with tomorrow’s innovations.
