Ahead of key talks in Muscat, Oman, China, Russia and Iran united behind a diplomatic resolution to the Iran nuclear issue, highlighting the International Atomic Energy Agency's constructive role.
In a joint meeting on Thursday with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, Li Song, China's permanent representative to the IAEA, underlined that political and diplomatic engagement rooted in mutual respect remains the only viable path forward. Russia's envoy, Mikhail Ulyanov, and Iran's envoy, Reza Najafi, echoed this stance.
The three countries agreed the IAEA brings unique expertise to support and shape diplomatic efforts, aiming for practical, positive outcomes. Li Song welcomed Iran's commitment not to develop nuclear weapons and affirmed its right to peaceful nuclear energy. He added that China supports Iran in holding dialogue with all parties, including the United States, to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests through consultation and negotiation.
Beijing also expressed readiness to strengthen communication and cooperation with Russia, Iran and the IAEA, injecting fresh momentum into the diplomatic process ahead of the next round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Muscat.
For a generation keen on global collaboration and real-world impact, these developments underscore the power of dialogue in tackling complex international challenges.
