Beijing 6 At the inaugural China-LAC Science Day in Beijing, Yin Hejun, Minister of Science and Technology of the Chinese mainland, unveiled a robust, multi-tiered network designed to deepen science and technology collaboration between China and Latin America and the Caribbean.
What began as bilateral projects in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and minerals has grown into a frontier partnership across five key arenas: life sciences, agricultural technology, 5G and digital innovation, new energy and advanced materials.
To turn ambition into action, two landmark centers have launched in the past two years: the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center in 2023 and the China-LAC Sustainable Food Innovation Center in 2024. These hubs serve as platforms for researchers, startups and policymakers to co-create solutions from climate-resilient crops to smart digital services.
Yin highlighted the importance of building an inclusive ecosystem that embraces openness, fairness, justice and non-discrimination, underscoring the Chinese mainland's commitment to shared progress. By uniting diverse expertise from universities, research institutes and industry, both sides can tackle global challenges more effectively.
For young entrepreneurs, innovators and global citizens, this evolving sci-tech alliance unlocks new pathways for sustainable development and breakthrough innovation. From smart agriculture to next-generation healthcare, the China-LAC network is opening doors to cross-border collaboration like never before.
