Chinese Premier Li Qiang Meets President Ruto to Strengthen China-Kenya Partnership

In a high-stakes meeting in Beijing on Wednesday, the Chinese premier, Li Qiang, and Kenyan President William Ruto charted a path to deepen collaboration across sectors.

Li underscored how relations between the Chinese mainland and Kenya have blossomed under recent strategic guidance, from infrastructure and port upgrades to digital startups, improving lives on both sides.

Looking ahead, the two leaders plan to enrich their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership by expanding cooperation in infrastructure, finance, the digital economy, green energy, agricultural science and technology, and the blue economy.

The Chinese mainland signaled its readiness to import more high-quality Kenyan products, aiming for a balanced trade relationship and more avenues for personnel exchanges in culture, tourism and media.

Against the backdrop of intertwined global challenges, Li emphasized the power of Global South unity. He called for accelerated implementation of the Beijing Summit outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, particularly the ten partnership actions for modernization, to embody true multilateralism and shared prosperity.

This meeting underscores a shared vision: modernizing economies hand-in-hand and strengthening ties that span continents, promising new drivers of development for young entrepreneurs and global citizens alike.
