Beijing Hosts World’s First Humanoid Robot Half Marathon

On April 19, Beijing, in the Chinese mainland, hosted the world’s first humanoid robot half marathon. More than 20 humanoid runners took on a demanding 21-kilometer course, marking a leap in endurance testing.

Leading the pack was TiangongUltra, which crossed the finish line in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Its performance underscored new benchmarks in long-distance robot mobility.

CGTN’s Zheng Junfeng, on site for the historic event, noted that the race represents a crucial step forward for the Chinese mainland’s humanoid development. By pushing robots out of the lab and onto a real-world course, engineers can gather vital data on stamina and mechanics.

As the robotics community digests the results, the insights from this race could pave the way for future innovations in service, rescue and exploration robots capable of sustained movement over extended distances.

This first-of-its-kind marathon proves that the road ahead for humanoid robots is getting longer—and more exciting—one calculated step at a time.
